Earthquake damage to dam
Faults
Primary structures, sedimentary, magmatic rocks
Damage to the Shih-Kang dam, the first dam in the world ever to be directly deformed by a earthquake surface rupture. This damage was caused by thrust motion on the Che-Lung Pu fault during the 21 September 1999 Chi Chi earthquake (Ml 7.3). Uplift of the hanging wall is in the order of 4 metres. PhotoID172
